We’re a very active Troop - our typical year includes 8 camping trips, 1 High Adventure trip (Summit, Seabase, Philmont, or Northern Tier), Summer Camp at alternating locations, annual volunteering at Operation Christmas Child and Scouting for Food, Leadership Development, Rank Advancement, Merit Badges, 4 Courts of Honor, and so much more!

We are extremely proud of the over 125 Eagle Scouts from Troop 164!

Charlotte Troop 164 has a long and rich history.  For over 60 years WE HAVE been sponsored by Providence Presbyterian Church which was founded in 1767. IT’S ONE OF THE OLDEST CHURCHES IN CHARLOTTE.  WE meet in the Fellowship Hall, which SITS next to the current sanctuary (the church’s third) THAT was built in 1858 and is listed as a National Historic Site.

Troop 164 was chartered on September 26, 1957 in what was Matthews, NC at the time.  

OVER THE YEARS, WE’VE BEEN classified in the following districts:

1973 to 1974 - District 22
1975 to 1985 - District 55
1986 to 1994 - Elgixin District
1995 - South District
1996 to 2001 - Tsungani District

2002 TO CURRENT - ETOWAH DISTRICT

We meet every Monday from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm (except Holidays OR IF CMS SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED) from LATE August TO EARLY June.
